UAA Press Release
Jonathan Iaione, a senior on the New York University baseball team, was named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) 30th Anniversary Team on Tuesday, March 27.
The team consists of each student-athlete who earned Player of the Year honors or accumulated five or more points with two points awarded for All-Association First-Team recognition, and one point for Second-Team honors in his career.
Iaione was named the UAA Player of the Year following his junior season when he finished the campaign with a UAA-leading .447 batting average. The Bernardsville, NJ, native also led the UAA in hits (59) and finished second in the Association in doubles (15), RBIs (44) and home runs (three). Iaione played in and started all 36 games for the Violets and recorded at least two hits in half of them.
This season, Iaione and the Violets have won 13 of their first 14 games. The squad opens up UAA play this weekend when they host Washington University in St. Louis for a four-game series at MCU Park in Brooklyn.
