ITA Final Season Rankings
Both of New York University's tennis squads finished their respective seasons with national rankings, an achievement which ranks #8 in our #NYUAthleticsTop10 countdown for the 2016-17 campaign.
The NYU men finished their season at #27 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll after completing the campaign with a 10-4 record. It marked the first time the Violets recorded double-digit wins in five years. NYU was led throughout the season by first singles standout
Umberto Setter, who was named First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) after ending the season with an impressive 9-2 record in the top singles position. Setter won all three of his matches at the UAA Championship, where the Violets defeated the University of Rochester for the second time this season.
NYU's women's squad was ranked #33 in the final ITA poll. The Violets finished their season at 8-5, also picking up a pair of victories against Rochester. Leading the way individually for NYU was freshman
Rupa Ganesh, who earned Second Team All-UAA honors. Ganesh went 12-5 in singles play during the campaign and also had a terrific rookie season at doubles, finishing with a 15-6 record.
Both of Head Coach
Horace Choy's squads were also ranked regionally by the ITA, as each team finished the season #11 in the Northeast.
