Nearly half of NYU's varsity student-athletes received Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee (IAAC) Honor Roll distinction during the academic year, ranking the achievement as #9 on the #NYUAthleticsTop10 countdown for the 2016-17 campaign.
In order to receive the honor, a student-athlete must achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average during the semester in which he/she participates.
A total of 199 (45.7%) of all NYU varsity student-athletes (435) achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA during the first semester. Of that total, 155 competed during the fall sports season and were named to the Fall 2016 IAAC Honor Roll. During the second semester, a total of 210 (47.3%) of all NYU varsity student-athletes (440) achieved the same distinction. Of that total, 180 competed during the spring sports season and were named to the Spring 2017 IAAC Honor Roll.
