Match ResultsThe New York University men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Oberlin College on Sunday, April 3, on the road in Oberlin, OH.
The Violets (2-5), won two of three doubles matches against the Yeomen (10-6) and headed into singles play up 2-1.
Oberlin took three of the first five singles matches that were completed and tied the score 4-4. Unfortunately for the Violets,
Yanik Parsch dropped a hard-fought three-set match (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) in the final match at #5 singles.
"We played the #40-ranked team and took them to the last match," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We were up 2-1 coming out of doubles and it all came down to fifth singles. Yanik fought all the way to the end but we came up just short."
Sammy Aronson picked up two victories on the day for the Violets. The junior teamed up with
Benedict Teoh at first doubles for the 9-8 win and followed with a straight set (6-0, 6-2) win at sixth singles.
"I was disappointed with the loss, but felt the guys competed very well," continued Choy.
NYU will return to action next Sunday afternoon, April 10, in New London, CT. First serve against the United States Coast Guard Academy is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
