Matt DeMichiel of the New York University men's tennis team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on Monday, March 7.
DeMichiel posted a straight-set win (6-3, 7-5) at #5 singles for the Violets on Saturday, March 5, against his opponent from Skidmore College.
On Sunday, March 6, the Hewlett, NY, native contributed two victories as part of a 6-3 NYU win over Vassar College. The junior nearly recorded a double-bagel victory at #5 singles and dominated his opponent by a score of 6-1, 6-0. At #3 doubles, DeMichiel teamed up with freshman
Yanik Parsch to deliver an 8-3 win.
This is the first weekly award of DeMichiel's career.
The Violets return to action on Friday, March 11, when they will take on Hobart College in Geneva, NY.
