Wang Named ECAC Player of the Week

Sophomore Claims Third Straight Honor

Alison Wang of the New York University women's tennis team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 23.

The sophomore earned the honor due to her continued stellar play as the Violets' top singles player. Wang earned a straight-set, 7-5, 6-1, victory over Jasmine Catorette of The College of New Jersey (No. 18 in the Northeast) on Wednesday, April 16, in Ewing, NJ.

It was the Great Neck, NY, native's fifth consecutive victory this spring. She has now amassed a record of 6-1 this season and is 12-4 overall for 2013-14.

Wang has collected the ECAC weekly honors in three straight weeks and now has a total of three for her career.

She and the rest of the Violets will be back out on the courts for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL, from Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27. NYU enters the tournament as the eighth seed and will face top-seeded Emory University (#2 nationally).
