The New York University women's basketball team is ranked #15 in the D3hoops.com Preseason Poll and #17 in the preseason USA Today/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll, released Tuesday, November 4.

"Being ranked in the Top 25 for the preseason is a compliment to our players and coaches," said NYU Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "We are appreciative and excited. But, the only thing that really matters is how we practice and play today. We just want to continue to get better as a team and stay focused on our daily goals."

The Violets return four of five starters from last season's NCAA Tournament team, which posted a 20-6 overall record. Two of those players returning for NYU are 2013-14 First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honorees Megan Dawe and Kaitlyn Read.

NYU is one of two UAA teams ranked in the Top 25. Washington University-St. Louis is ranked ninth.

The Violets will begin their 2014-15 season when they host the NYU Tip-Off on Saturday and Sunday, November 15-16, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan. NYU's first game will be vs. Western Connecticut State University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
