New York University men's fencer
Andrew Kelly was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on Monday, January 27.
Kelly compiled an overall record of 12-4 in sabre when the Violets hosted the NYU Invitational at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan on Saturday, January 25. NYU competed against some of the top Division I teams in the country at the meet, including #6 Ohio State University, #7 St. John's University and #4 the University of Notre Dame.
Kelly went 2-1 vs. both Notre Dame and Ohio State. He also had good performaces against the University of North Carolina (3-0), Wayne State University (2-0) and Yale University (2-0).
This is Kelly's third UAA Athlete of the Week award this season and the fifth of his career.
The Violets are back in action at the Boston Invitational in Waltham, MA, on Saturday, February 1.
