The New York University women's tennis team was defeated 6-3 by the University of Rochester at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond on Saturday, April 6.
NYU (1-3) got off to a quick start by winning two of the three doubles matches. However, Rochester proved to be too much for the Violets in the singles matches.
Mari Tzakis and
Madeline King combined for an 8-6 victory at #2 doubles, while
Becky Kumar and
Jazmin Colling earned an 8-6 win at #3 doubles.
Alison Wang notched NYU's lone singles victory, 6-1, 7-5 at #2.
"Overall, it was a close match, with it being 4-3 towards the end," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "Our players competed well, but Rochester is just a strong team."
The Violets return to the court on Sunday, April 7, when they host William Smith College at 11:00 am.
