Women's Tennis Season Comes to an End at UAA Championship

NYU Falls to Rochester in Seventh-Place Match

Madeline King (L) and Mari Tzakis (R) earned a victory at #2 doubles.
The New York University women's team concluded its 2012-13 season with a 6-3 loss to the University of Rochester in the seventh-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday, April 27, in Altamonte Springs, FL.

NYU (5-6) played its most competitive match of the tournament after dropping its first two matches to Emory University and Case Western Reserve University. The #8 seed Violets took one of the three doubles matches and two of the six singles matches from the #7 seed Yellowjackets (12-8).

Mari Tzakis was the Violets' top performer, as she went 2-0 on Saturday. Tzakis won her #3 singles match and combined with Madeline King to win at #2 doubles.

NYU also got a win from Alison Wang at #2 singles.

"Even though we're disappointed with the way things turned out down here, we're still making baby steps to where we want to get to," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "We have a lot of first-year players on this roster who now understand what it will take to get us to the next level."
