The New York University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches by defeating SUNY Geneseo 5-4 at the Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond on Saturday, April 20.
NYU got off to a quick start by taking two of the three doubles matches. The two teams split the singles matches at three wins apiece.
Ashley Masanto,
Alison Wang and
Mari Tzakis all went 2-0 for the Violets, while
Madeline King also combined with Tzakis for a win in doubles.
"I thought that we came out well at number one and two doubles and took the play to them early," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We put out our top three to start in singles and clinched the match 5-1 before Geneseo came back to make the score look closer."
With the win, the Violets (4-3) moved their record over .500 for the first time this season.
NYU returns to action on Sunday, April 21 when it travels to Wilkes-Barre, PA, to take on WIlkes University at noon.
