Playing its first road game of the season, the 17th-ranked New York University men's soccer team stayed undefeated, beating the City College of New York 4-0 on Wednesday, September 12, in Purchase, NY.

Niki Chow, Nimo Freitag Bergstroem, and
Billy Cordova all found the back of the net for the 5-0 Violets, who outshot the Beavers (1-3) 24-8.
Highlights
- Green opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing a feed from Freitag Bergstroem.
- Despite controlling the possession, NYU led just 1-0 at halftime. But, the Violets scored twice in the first three minutes of the second half. Chow made it 2-0 just 51 seconds in, heading in a corner from
Mac Yumoto. Freitag Bergstroem then put in a cross from
Ryan Horch to make it 3-0.

Billy Cordova added the fourth and final goal in the 67th minute, scrapping for an unassisted tally.

Jonas Poster and
Forrest Sexton combined for the shutout, with each making one save. NYU has not allowed a goal in its last 197:42.
- With the big lead, the Violets were able to get several newcomers into the game.

Chris Harvey,
Justin Suter, and
Nate Simons all made their NYU debuts.
“I thought the key moment was getting two quick goals at the start of the second half,” said Violet Head Coach
Joe Behan. “The lads remained composed and knew that we still had to put the pressure on despite being up 1-0. They did exactly what we talked about at halftime, and it was a great team performance.”
NYU returns to the pitch on Saturday, September 15, for a road contest at Baruch College. The game will be played at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, NY, at noon.
