Thirty-four New York University student-athletes achieved 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Spring Sport All-Academic honors, the Association announced on Monday, May 7.

The Violets' outdoor track and field teams garnered the most recipients for NYU, as 28 total track and field competitors were honored. An even split of 14 athletes from the men's team and 14 from the women's team were recognized for their academic accomplishments. 

Four men's tennis players received accolades, while two members of the NYU men's golf earned All-Academic honors.

Overall, 414 student-athletes representing seven sports (baseball, men's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's outdoor track and field) were honored from the UAA's eight member institutions.

UAA All-Academic recognition is given to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and carry a minimum of a 3.300 grade point average -- the same academic qualifying standard used by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the nomination of Academic All-America candidates in all sports.
