Several members of the New York University men's and women's track & field teams competed at The College of New Jersey Last Chance Invitational on Thursday, May 17, in Ewing, NJ.

For several Violets, it was a final opportunity to try and qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships later this month.  For others, it was a chance to end their season (or career) on a positive note.

Needing to improve on their performances in order to qualify for NCAA's, sprinters Jon Simon and Daniel McKinney gave strong efforts, but each fell just short of their season bests. Simon ran 10.77 and finished sixth in the 100 meters, just .01 off his best time. McKinney, meanwhile, was just .03 off his top time, going 48.54 in the 400 meters and placing second.

In the 800 meters, Alyssa Binczyk fell less than one second short of her best time, posting a mark of 2:16.96 in her second-place finish.

One Violet who did set a career best was Dharen Kadiyala in the men's 800 meters. He posted a time of 1:56.68 and finished 10th in the field. Steven Delianites also ran in the event and concluded his NYU career with a season-best time of 2:04.39.

A pair of women ran in the 1,500 meters, though Maeve Evans (6th place, 4:48.86) and Georgina Norton (7th place. 5:04.29) did not lower their season-best marks.

Only one Violet, Matt Turlip, has secured a spot at the NCAA's. He will be competing in the 1,500 meters. Turlip's fastest time this season, 3:46.81, is currently second best in all of Division III.

Evans currently has the 24th best time in the nation in the 5,000 meters (17:14.05) and it is still uncertain if that will be good enough for qualification.
