Several members of the New York University men's track & field team competed at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 14, in Swarthmore, PA.
Four Violets ran personal bests at the meet, led by
Brian Broderick, who took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:18.90.
Ryan Gilmore notched a personal best in the 1,500 meters (4:00.29), while
Zac Kish ran a career-best time in the 5,000 meters (1:55.94). David Knowles also turned in a PR in the 5,000 meters (15:16.02).
Matt Turlip put together a strong performance in the 1,500m, taking 13th with a time of 3:51.70. He did not improve on his season-best 3:46.81, which currently ranks second on the Division III national performance list.
“Matt ran smart and finished hard – he ran conservatively until the last 400 meters,” said NYU head coach Nick McDonough. “He's happy with his performance considering he's had to curtail his workouts due to lingering injuries."
There was no team scoring at the meet.
“Overall, we had mixed results at the meet,” added McDonough.
Several Violets will return to action on Thursday, May 17, for the TCNJ Last Chance Meet in Ewing, NJ.
