NYU Women Set to Compete at Boston University Valentine Invitational

Violets Hope to Start Second Half Fast

Zelinsky highlights a talented group of runners.
The New York University women's track & field team will take their show on the road this weekend as they look to have a strong start to the second half of their season at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

Coming off a weekend in which the squad was split between two meets, the team will come together as one to take on some tough competition.

The Violets have been led by stand-outs Paige Zelinsky and Laura Santoski. Both are among the team's best mile-runners. Santoski has already notched a first-place finish (5:21.66) this year at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational on January 6. As for Zelinsky, she posted  consecutive top-three finishes at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational and again at the Haverford Quad Meet on January 20.

Not to be outdone, the Violets' throwers have exhibited similar success, as shot-putter Vanessa Ortiz has highlighted a very solid group. She has placed in the top-five twice this year and is poised to build upon her early success.
