2010 CSCAA Scholar All-American Team

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced its 2010 Scholar All-American Team, and the NYU women's swimming and diving team is well represented.

Molly Rippe and Kelly Dietz received All-American status, while Chelsea Pfohl, Paula Guzman, Megan Rappa, and Claire Stephens received Honorable Mention recognition.

To be named a Scholar All-American, swimmers must have qualified for the NCAA Championship meet and have achieved a cumulative grad point average of 3.50 or higher.  Honorable Mention selections must have achieved a NCAA consideration time ("B" cut) and a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Dietz placed 12th in the three-meter dive and 13th in the one-meter dive at the NCAA Championships, earning All-American status in both events.

Rippe competed in three events at the NCAA's, finishing 14th (and receiving Honorable Mention All-American accolades) in the 1,650 freestyle.  She also swam in the 500 free and the 200 free.

"I am really proud of my athletes for achieving this honor," said head coach Lauren Beam. "This says a lot about what kinds of people I get to work with everyday. They are incredible athletes who are dedicated to their sport, and they are equally as incredible students. It is really the best of both worlds."

NYU's cumulative grade point average of 3.52 was the eighth-highest in Division III.
