Sophomore Sets New Mark in the 800 Meters

Evans set the Violets' 800-Meter Record on Monday.

Competing at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday night, sophomore Maeve Evans set a team record in the 800-meter run.

An indoor All-American in the mile, Evans ran the 800 meters on Monday and posted a time of 2:15.46. The old team record of 2:17.07 was set in 2008 by Beatrix Jackson.

Evans finished 16th overall (out of 30 runners). Senior co-captain Ashley Chase also ran a personal-best time (2:28.73) in the race.

Freshman Kirsten Keller competed in the 5,000 meters and finished seventh in a field of 25 with a time of 17:30.48.

Senior co-captain Caitlin Gibson took fifth place in the 100-meter dash (13.15).

There was no team scoring at the meet.
