UAA Championships - Meet Results
Freshman Daniel McKinney won two events and the New York University men's track & field team finished in sixth place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships at Washington University in St. Louis.
McKinney was victorious in the both the 200- and 400-meter dashes.
In the 400m. McKinney posted a first-place time of 49.22. He had also recorded the fastest time (personal-best 49.02) in Saturday's preliminaries.
After finishing with the fourth-fastest time in the 200m (22.64) in Saturday's preliminaries, McKinney exploded to a career-best 22.14 in capturing the event on Sunday, less than an hour after his 400m win..
"Dan competed hard and had a tremendous weekend," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough. "Winning the 200 in a personal-best time considering the rainy, windy conditions was huge. That type of weather is especially tough on sprinters."
Also on Sunday, indoor All-American Matt Turlip placed second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:57.06.
Sebastian Schwelm, who posted a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters (31:18.66) on Saturday in the first time he'd ever run that distance, finished sixth in the 5,000 meters (15:27.19) on Sunday.
Overall, the Violets compiled 69 points and finished in sixth place.
Host Washington won the UAA Championships with 192 points.
"Overall, it was a great meet considering how tough it was for all the athletes," McDonough said.
