Coming off an impressive first-place finish at the Johnson & Wales Invitational last weekend, the New York University men's golf team is eyeing another victory at this weekend's University Athletic Association Golf Championships.
The two-day event beginning Sunday, April 25, and concluding Monday, April 26, is being hosted by the University of Rochester and will take place at the difficult Locust Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY. Locust Hill is a regular LPGA Tour stop and plays 6,186 yards with a par of 72.
The Violets are looking to improve on last year's fourth-place showing at the UAA Golf Championship held at the Royal Lake Golf and Country Club in Atlanta, GA. The Violets are one of several teams in the UAA who are receiving recognition in the Golf World/NIKE Golf Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll. Emory University is currently ranked 14th in the poll, with Rochester and NYU also receiving votes.
Junior David Su would like to ride the momentum of a second-place showing last week to the UAAs. He shot consecutive rounds of 72 and 74 for a four-over-par 146. Su tied for the individual title after 36 holes, but lost a two-hole playoff to a senior from Salem State University.
Junior Ben Kleiner earned First Team All-UAA honors after last year's event, tying for fifth after shooting a 79 over the final 18 holes to finish with an aggregate score of 157.
