The New York University women's golf team took to the links Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, NY, at the Vassar College Invitational.

As a team, the Violets shot a combined 359 (+71) to place them in a tie for sixth-place overall on the 5,800-yard, par-72 Dutchess Golf and Country Club course. Vassar College leads its own invite with a score of 336, sitting with a seven-stroke advantage over Williams College and Wellesley College.

“The course is a little difficult, but overall we did not play well today,” said NYU assistant coach Matt Huck. “A few holes beat us today, but tomorrow is a new day. We are ready to come out better on Sunday, hopefully in the 340's as a team.”

Leading the Violets was freshman Jiye Kim. She fired an 86 (+14), which was good enough to place her in a tie for 16th individually.

Junior Theresa Apoznanski was right behind Kim, shooting an 87 (t-18th). Rounding out the scoring for the team were freshmen Sarah Utz and Charlotte Abrams, who shot matching scores of 93 (t-32nd).

The Violets will be back in action Sunday morning with a tee-time of 9:30 a.m. Check back tomorrow on www.goNYUathletics.com for final results of the Vassar College Invite.
