Sophomore Elizabeth Stachtiaris has been named University Athletic Association Co-Athlete of the Week in women’s tennis, sharing the honor with Erika Lim of Case Western University.

Stachtiaris won both her singles and doubles matches as NYU won its first match of the season, 8-1, at MIT on Saturday. Playing at #2 singles, she defeated Bianca Dumitrascu, 6-4, 6-0. At #3 doubles, Stachtiaris paired with Ariel Sultan to post a near-perfect 8-1 victory.

For the season, Stachtiaris has an 8-4 record in singles and a 3-4 mark in doubles. It is the first time in her career that she has been named UAA Athlete of the Week.
