Violets Ready for ECAC Metro Semifinal Date With Drew

NYU Looking to Win Seventh Crown This Weekend

Maggie Ely will try to lead NYU to its seventh ECAC Metro title this weekend.

Winners of a women's all-time-best six Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metropolitan Tournament championships, sixth-seeded NYU will continue its quest for a seventh when it faces seventh-seeded Drew University on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.

Fans interested in attending are alerted to follow these directions, since Hoboken is holding its annual St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday.

Behind a career-best 16 points from Maggie Ely, NYU (14-12) advanced to the ECAC final four with a 70-51 victory at #3-seeded Hunter College on Wednesday. The Violets broke open a close game with a 16-0 run to start the second half while keeping the Hawks scoreless for the first 7:28 of the final period.

Overall, NYU is 15-2 in ECAC Metro contests including championship wins in 1985, 1988, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2005.

NYU is 7-1 all-time against Drew with seven straight victories, including an 81-49 triumph on Dec. 9, 2009, as Chrissy Kilmurray (11 points, 13 rebounds) recorded the first of her eight collegiate double-doubles.

With a win over Drew, the Violets would face either top-seeded Stevens Tech or fourth-seeded Brooklyn College in the ECAC Metro championship game Sunday at 6 p.m. at Stevens Tech.
