Fencers Finish Up at NCAA Championships

NYU Finishes in 16th Place Overall

Roukas, Jamesson and Neslund all had double-digit victories at the NCAA Championships

Final Results

Three members of the New York University men's fencing team finished the season strong at the NCAA Fencing Championships at Harvard University in Boston, MA, on Sunday, March 28.

Senior Sam Roukas picked up five victories on the second day of the Championships in the men's sabre competition, finishing with 11 victories to finish in 14th place.

In men's foil, NYU freshman Phil Jamesson followed up his seven victories for the Violets on the first day with four victories in the final three rounds. Jamesson's 11 victories in his first NCAA Championships allowed him to finish in 13th place.

After a strong first day with seven victories, junior Byron Neslund won three bouts on the strip on the second day in men's epee. With 10 victories in the Championships, Neslund came in 15th place in the field of 24 fencers.

Representing both the men's and women's teams for overall standings, the 32 combined victories during the men's competition placed NYU in 16th place overall out of 27 teams.
