In the latest Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division III Standings through March 15, NYU is ranked #19 thanks to All-American performances in both men's and women's indoor track and field as well as wrestling.
The standings do not account for performance in men's and women's basketball, in addition to men's and women's swimming and diving, as the aforementioned sports are still staging their national tournaments.
NYU built upon its 154-point performance in the fall as Matt Turlip (men's indoor track one-mile run), Maeve Evans (women's indoor track one-mile run) and Matt Magill (eighth place, 157 pounds) each collected All-American honors. As a result, wrestling finished 33rd nationally, while men's indoor track placed 50th and women's indoor track took 59th.
In the fall, NYU posted its third top-four finish in the past four seasons by placing fourth at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, while the Violets' women's volleyball team reached the second round of its NCAA tournament.
With 233 points, NYU is one of two University Athletic Association (UAA) institutions among the Top 20, joining #5 Washington University (344 points). Williams College sits atop the leaderboard with 534.75 points.
