Two New York University women’s fencers received potential at-large bids to compete in the NCAA Championship following their performances at the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Sunday, March 14, at Brown University in Providence, RI.
Senior Zoe Evans and junior Amanda Rysling were competing for spots at the NCAA Championship, which will take place from March 25-28 at Harvard University in Boston, MA. The invitations for at-large bids was announced March 16, with Rysling being named the first alternate selection for the Northeast Region.
Evans and Rysling garnered their Championship at-large berths at the NCAA Northeast Regionals with their strong performances in women’s foil. Evans was the top performer for the entire Violet team, placing ninth in the weapon. Rysling, who leads NYU in victories this season, finished 11th in foil.
Rysling would be making her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship should she be called on to compete as an alternate.
