Beginning on Wednesday, March 17, New York University junior diver Max Norris will represent the Violet swimming & diving squad on the national level, when he competes at the NCAA Division III Championships at Beloit College in Minneapolis, MN.
Norris was the lone NCAA qualifier for the Violets, who posted a 6-4 dual-meet record and a fifth-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.
"With 22 of the best divers in the country, anyone really has a chance to take the top spot," said NYU diving coach Scott Donie. "At this level, it comes down to the mental aspect."
A 16-time career UAA Athlete of the Week, Norris posted qualifying totals of 435.40 and 449.95 in the one-meter and three-meter events, respectively, this season. At the UAA Championships, Norris posted victories in both events and was named the UAA Men's Diver of the Year.
"This selection is the culmination of a great season and of hard work," added Donie.
The NCAA Championships are set to begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday. Results will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
