Women's Basketball Seeded #6 in ECAC Metro Tournament

Violets Open at #3 Hunter College on Wednesday

Head coach Stefano Trompeo's squad will face Hunter College on Wednesday.

After going 13-12 during the regular season, the New York University women's basketball team earned the #6 seed in the eight-team 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metropolitan Tournament. The Violets will visit #3 Hunter College for a 6 p.m. tip on Wednesday, March 3.

NYU, which finished 5-9 in the University Athletic Association, is led by seniors Grace Carmen (10.7 ppg) and Jen Hum-Traverso (2.4 apg), along with junior pivot Chrissy Kilmurray (8.2 rpg).

Hunter went 17-11 overall and 10-3 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference. The Hawks are led by guard Megan McKenna, who is averaging 14.4 ppg.

Stevens Institute of Technology earned the top seed in the ECAC Metro Tournament. The top remaining seed after Wednesday's first round games will host both the semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday.
