Meziab Named to Academic All-District Team

Meziab has been averaging 7.6 tallies per game for the Violets.

New York University senior co-captain Omar Meziab, a member of the Violets' men's basketball team, has been selected as a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)  District 1 Second Team Academic All-American.

In order to qualify for Academic All-American consideration, student-athletes must post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 and be a contributing member of a varsity team. The Tucson, AZ, native is a neural science major who has accumulated a 3.78 GPA through the 2009 Fall semester.

Meziab, who has been averaging career highs of 7.6 points and a team-leading 3.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, is also third on the team in three-point field goals made (22).

In the most recent NCAA Division III national rankings, Meziab is 34th with 2.21 assists per turnover.
