Rysling's Dominance Earns Her Athlete of the Week Award

Junior Receives Honor for Fourth Time this Season

Rysling leads all Violets with 42 wins.

Junior fencer Amanda Rysling was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on Feb. 1, following her performance at the Eric Sollee Invitational at Brandeis University on Saturday, Jan. 30, and in a dual match against Tufts University on Sunday, Jan. 31.

Rysling compiled a stellar record at the Eric Sollee Invitational and followed that up with a perfect outing against Tufts. With NYU competing against seven other teams at Brandeis, Rysling led the charge for NYU with an outstanding day in foil, going 18-3 overall with perfect 3-0 outings against Haverford College, Air Force Academy, Boston College, Brown University, and MIT. To cap off the weekend, Rysling helped lead the Violets over Tufts University 20-7 on Sunday, winning all three bouts as the foil team went 9-0.

It is the fourth time this season that Rysling has been named UAA Athlete of the Week. She leads the Violets in wins with a 42-16 overall record.
