New York University junior diver Max Norris has done it again! For the sixth time this season, he has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for men's diving.
The award winners were announced on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Norris is no stranger to the award, having won it 14 times in his career. In competition against Springfield College on Saturday, Jan. 16, he took second and third place in the one-meter and three-meter diving events, respectively, facing some of his strongest competition of the season. That was evident as Springfield topped the Violets 167-133.
"That wasn't his highest finish," said NYU diving coach Scott Donie on Saturday. "Yet those were certainly some of the best divers in the country, and Max really held his own."
Norris tallied a season-high and NCAA-qualifying score of 280.95 in the one-meter dive and 261.38 in the three-meter dive.
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23, when they host The College of New Jersey at the Palladium Athletic Facility Natatorium at 1:00pm.
