On Saturday, Jan. 10, the New York University women's swimming & diving team competed in its first competition of 2010. The Violets, who have been in Florida since Jan. 5 for winter training, were at the Ft. Lauderdale Invitational.
The one-mile ocean swim, which featured NYU, Hamilton College and Rider University, had no team scoring. There was, however, overall individual scoring for swimmers. The top finishers for NYU were senior co-captain Kacey McCaffrey, freshman Tatum Gormley and senior Patricia Beck. The trio finished two-three-four overall.
Head coach Lauren Beam and the Violets will be in Florida until the end of the week for winter conditioning. The team then returns home to begin its spring semester slate on Jan. 16, when NYU hosts Springfield College.
