The New York University women's swimming & diving team is still waiting to be seriously challenged in dual-meet competition. The Violets remain undefeated (6-0) after topping host Swarthmore College 120-79 on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Freshman Claire Stephens led the Violets with a victory in the 200 freestyle (2:01.20) and a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (26.32). Sophomore Molly Rippe was another top performer, contributing a victory in the 500 freestyle (5:13.94). Sophomore Regina Romain also stepped up with a first-place performance in the 200 backstroke (2:18.52).

"As was the case tonight, everybody on the roster has the capability to contribute," said NYU head coach Lauren Beam. "We really showed off that depth against Swarthmore."

There were no diving events held at the Swarthmore meet.

A season ago, NYU raced to a 7-0 start before falling to Springfield College on Jan. 17, 2009. The Violets ended last season at 9-1 and have looked as strong this year, topping each opponent in convincing fashion.

The Violets return to the pool on Friday, Dec. 4, when the team travels to Cambridge, MA. NYU will compete in the MIT Invitational.

"Today was good preparation for MIT," added Beam. "That's one of our biggest meets of the year, and we're looking forward to it.
