The New York University men’s golf team will look to continue its strong play Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Hamilton College Invitational in Clinton, NY.
The Violets are coming off a stellar second-place finish at the ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Championship on Oct. 4. NYU was nine strokes better in the final round of the championships and finished with a team total of 595. NYU’s “B” team took fifth place overall with a tally of 623.
Senior Mike Leibfried won the individual scoring title with his even-par 144 for the weekend. Leibfried was named UAA Athlete of the Week on Oct. 6 for his title-winning performance at the ECAC Championship.
Other team members had their best tournaments of the season, as well, at the ECACs. Junior David Su fired a two-under-par 70 in the final round to take seventh place overall. Freshman Gabe Durkin also played well as a member of NYU’s “B” team with a plus-seven 151 total, which was good enough for 10th place.
The Violets took fifth place overall at the Hamilton College Invite in 2008. Play will begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, and the tournament will begin the final round at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
