Box Score

New York University saw an early scoring opportunity countered and dropped a 2-0 decision to the University of Chicago in University Athletic Association (UAA) men's soccer action Friday afternoon at Manhattan College's Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

NYU (5-8-3, 0-3-2 UAA) nearly took a quick 1-0 lead with its best opportunity of the afternoon. Brandon Hintz corraled a lead pass and grounded it past the diving Maroons' goalkeeper Chris Giusto (2 saves), but his attempt caromed off the far post at 6:57.

Chicago (11-3-2, 4-1-0 UAA) quickly countered, making a run into the Violets' end. After an Alex Clifford corner kick was cleared out of the box, Clifford collected a loose ball on the endline and served it onto the head of Kenzo Manners at 7:59, staking the Maroons to a 1-0 advantage.

After pressuring the Violets throughout the second half, the Maroons finally broke through for an insurance tally at 81:56 when Yoni Einhorn threaded a perfect through ball onto the right foot of Andy Dallos, who beat NYU goalkeeper Marek Urbanski (2 saves) with a hard shot to the far left post.

Overall, the Maroons owned edges on shots (9-8) and corner kicks (5-0).

Prior to the contest, NYU honored its three seniors: Hintz, Urbanski and Christopher Wolf.

NYU returns to action Sunday, Nov. 1, when it hosts UAA rival Washington University for its final home game this season. Game time is 11 a.m. at the College of Staten Island Soccer Complex in Staten Island, NY.
