The New York University wrestling team swept both of its dual matches on Wednesday night at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

After posting a come-from-behind 21-13 win over Elizabethtown College, NYU's grapplers eased to a 42-6 victory over Muhlenberg College.

And, in a match between NYU's two visitors, Elizabethtown recorded a 35-12 win over Muhlenberg.

In its opening match, NYU fell behind 7-0 to Elizabethtown before rallying to win the next three bouts, including a pin by 149-pounder John Dack, to take a 12-7 lead.

After Elizabethtown pulled to within 12-10, NYU won three straight decisions to secure the victory.

Against Muhlenberg, Dack posted a technical fall victory while Matt Magill (157 pounds) recorded a pin to spearhead the onslaught.

Gregg Martino (141), Sean Connors (184/174) and Jamie Myers (197) each contributed two victories for NYU.

The pair of wins for NYU lifted its 2008-09 dual-meet record to 5-3.

“We wrestled much better than we did in our last match,“ NYU head coach Bruce Haberli said, referring to his team's 24-12 loss to Centenary College last Saturday. “However, there's still another level that we need to step up to, and this coming weekend could move us in that direction.”

NYU's grapplers return to the mat this Saturday, Jan. 10, when they compete at the Plymouth State University Invitational in Plymouth, NH.
