The New York University women's tennis #1 doubles pair of seniors Holly and Meggie Smith (no relation) have earned Second Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors.
The Violet duo earned the recognition following a season in which they compiled a 17-6 doubles record and were ranked #9 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Region.
The pair was undefeated (3-0) at the UAA Championship tournament earlier this month, helping to lift the team to an overall sixth-place finish.
In 2007, the first year the two student-athletes played together, the Smiths earned First Team All-UAA accolades at #2 doubles.
"This has been a winning match-up for us for the past two seasons, almost from the minute they stepped on the court together," said NYU head coach Horace Choy. "They just seemed to work well together right from the start."
The tandem played together for only the two years at NYU, as Holly (ranked #23 in the region in singles)began her collegiate career at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Meggie has been a Violet for her entire four-year career.
