The New York University women's basketball team will look to build upon its 2-0 start to the 2008-09 season when it hosts the NYU Tip-Off Tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
NYU will face Fairleigh Dickinson University-College at Florham at 6 p.m., followed by the other first round game between the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Rutgers-Camden at 8 p.m. The losers of both games will play in the third-place game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, while the winners will play in the championship contest at 8 p.m.
All NYU games will be broadcast via an
Internet audio feed, while the NYU Department of Sports Information will provide
live stats for all Tournament games.
Last season, the Violets defeated Farmingdale State College for the Tip-Off Tournament title.
NYU is coming off a 72-32 road non-conference victory over New Jersey City University on Tuesday night. Senior
Jessica McEntee tallied 14 points and 15 rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Meanwhile, senior
Sarah McDevitt and sophomore
Christine Kilmurray each scored eight points, with Kilmurray recording a career high. Thirteen different players scored for the Violets, who held the Gothic Knights scoreless for a stretch of 12:10.
