New York University senior co-captain Naum Shuminov earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Wrestling Athlete of the Week honors on Nov. 17.
Shuminov earned the weekly accolade after finishing third in the 174-pound weight class at the Ursinus College Fall Brawl on Sunday. At the competition, Shuminov defeated five opponents, pinning three. In the third-place match, he pinned his opponent from Muhlenberg College in 4:34.
Shuminov has posted a 9-2 record so far this season, compiling six falls in his 11 matches.
The NYU wrestling team will be back in action on Wednesday against Yeshiva University and The College of New Jersey at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M.
